Bump!

I'm the worst at remembering to take bump pics! But I'm trying! Here we go!!!

13 weeks!

14 Weeks

Other news. I am intending this blog to be like my 'pregnancy journal' since I never found one I liked.

So here's what's new in pregnancy land.  Morning sickness is virtually GONE! There are still some smells that will trigger some nausea but nothing unmanageable. Meijer still makes me gag once or twice. It's so stinky in there! But I am glad to be rid of the all day nausea.  Ick.

Cravings are as weird as ever. Liverwurst, fruit snacks, instant breakfast....

I have already started peeing when I sneeze. Isn't it a little early for that? Oh pregnancy, you're so fun.

Ultrasound

Today we got to see our little bean! It was so much fun! Lyla kept pointing at the screen and going "baby! baby!"

Our little munchkin was awake and moving around like CRAZY! He/she was moving her head back and forth, arms up and down, and doing some sort of jumping up movement! Water aerobics? It was so fun to see all him/her moving all around! The baby is measuring right on schedule with our due date, and everything looks great! Heartbeat, 158 bpm!

We thought we might get to see the gender today, even though it's a bit early. Our technician told us that she has been able to tell some at 13 weeks. However, our baby was being a bit coy and we couldn't even get a peek at that area! Bummer! He/she is laying face down basically snuggling the placenta. Not easy to get a glimpse. Oh well, only two more months until we get to see our baby again! Can't wait!

What a great day :)

First Appointment!

Had our first doctor's visit on Friday! The nurses, NP and our doctor were all so excited to see us back and to meet Lyla! Lyla surprisingly did alright in the office and didn't bawl her eyes out the whole time! We've had a lot of trips to various doctors lately so maybe she is realizing that not every nurse or doctor is going to poke with her with stuff!

We got to hear our little one's heartbeat! Our doctor found it right away but then baby squirmed away so she had to find it again haha, but all is well, 150 bpm! The dr then went to feel the size of my uterus, but it deeps back so she couldn't feel how big it was. She said that this is completely normal, but that we'll need an ultrasound so we can be sure we're on track with our estimated due date and to make sure all is well. The heartbeat is strong so there shouldn't be anything to worry about!

We're just excited because we get to see our baby on Tuesday already! We normally wouldn't get an ultrasound until around 20 weeks, so we are quite happy :) It will probably be too early to predict the gender, but we are kind of hoping they might have an idea hehe.

Our Sweet Oz Boo Boo!!

So our precious kitty of 9 years was missing for 2 weeks! This was particularly difficult for all of us (especially my parents) because we came back from our grandma's funeral to find that another member of our family was nowhere to be found. I secretly thought that maybe Grandma took him to heaven with her because she loves cats and Oz is such a great cat. Isn't that silly?

He's an indoor/outdoor cat so it's not unusual for him to be gone for a day or two at the most, but he generally goes out and does wild cat stuff at night and comes home to sleep during the day.

Oz AKA Boo Boo is like my baby! I vividly remember bringing home from my friend's house. I picked him out, my mom picked out our other furry feline, Meeko. They are brother and sister... absolutely nothing alike! Anyway he and Meeko both clung to my chest on the ride home. They were meant to be outdoor cats but that lasted about a day and now they have the best of both worlds!

We have been anxiously awaiting the past 2 weeks for some word of Boo Boo. Even Lyla would look at the sliding door at my parents' house and yell for Boo Boo! I was honestly starting to give up hope. My mom had put notices in the local papers, in the post office, in the grocery store.. everywhere! Finally, on Thursday someone had left a msg for my mom.... someone had heard a cat meowing inside an abandoned house and told this man, who I guess is in charge of this house. The man said he left the door unlocked for her. The house was maybe a block away, so she ran over there on her lunch break and went inside. She called and called for Boo Boo with at first no success but finally heard his loud MEOW! He was upstairs, acting quite wild and skittish, but when he saw my mom, he ran over to her. She picked him up and carried him home. My mom said he seemed to calm down after about half an hour.  Later that day, she noticed that he was napping in sort of an upright position.... barely letting himself fall asleep. That must be how he slept in that house. Now he is back to his old self, lounging and relaxing on the furniture. My parents have even let him sleep in their bed and drink from the faucet in the bathroom! Lucky guy! He's a bit on the skinny side but we're all amazed at how well he looked after being trapped in there for 2 weeks!

So thankful our Oz Boo Boo is home safely!!!!!!!!!!

Food for Thought

One day my senior seminar professor asked us, "When do you think you will FEEL like a 'grown up'? One girl said that she would when she was pregnant. I was maybe two or three months pregnant at the time, and I didn't say anything, but I would've told her that being pregnant made me feel less grown up than ever.

The other day I was contemplating this question again, and I thought, "Well, we're having our second child. I guess I feel like a grown up now." And then Erik came over and said, "Hey, I was thinking that maybe you should cut down on the fruit snacks..."

Truthfully, I still don't feel 'grown up' yet! This question will have to be answered at a later date.

12 weeks & 19 months

We hit some milestones today! We are 12 weeks along with Baby Dos, and Miss Lyla Soo is 19 months old!

Today I felt better than I have in a few months and did some serious cleaning up of the condo. It desperately needed some lovin. Our first doctor's appointment is this Friday. Finally! We can't wait to hear our little one's heartbeat and be reassured that everything is well so far.

Lyla continues to grow and learn every day. Erik and I were just saying how one of our favorite parts of being parents is watching all the stages. Every day she surprises us with something new. Some new game she thinks up, a new word, a new funny face. I love it! It's such an exciting age. We are always on the move.  Running, running, running! She wears me out sometimes! Oh and I should mention that her favorite phrase is "I do it." She wants to everything herself! Even things she doesn't know how to do yet, like put on her shoes!

Some of my favorite things she does....
1. She covers her mouth with her hand when she giggles. Seriously. Could she be any cuter?
2. She calls everything 'cute' and if something is REALLY cute she puts her hands on her cheeks and says "oh my!"
3. Erik and I always check on her before bed. Sometimes she rolls over and sees us. She used to cry if this happened. Now she looks at us and says "nigh nigh" and goes back to sleep. AWW! it's so cute!
4. Of course the hugs, snuggles and kisses! She is so lovey! (For the most part, hehe)
I could go on and on, I'll stop there for now!

She is getting to be more social, too. She still has really bad stranger anxiety but if Mommy and/or Daddy there, it's ok to be outgoing! She likes to give high-fives to kids (most run right by her and leave her hanging.. poor girl!) and go up to babies and hug them and smile at them.  The other day, she ran around my work with some bigger 2 year olds! They had so much fun together! It's amazing to see her really interact with other kids.

I can already tell that she will be an amazing big sister. She knows how to be gentle and listens when we tell her not to do something. She already likes to 'share' with the baby and likes when I put food or milk up to my belly and make eating sounds. She talks about the baby often, you know, in one word sentences. And tells me that the baby is eating food or is 'nigh nigh.' It's so cute! We just can't wait for our two babies to grow up together!

Some recent pics of our baby! The bigger one that is :)

The Big News!

This is not announced to the world yet. We are waiting until after we hear the heartbeat and confirm that all is well with little baby Bodine!!!

We'll be 12 weeks along tomorrow (already?! what??!).  The morning sickness that has been kicking my butt for the past couple of months is starting to ease up a bit (on some days! i.e. days when Lyla doesn't poop right when we get up in the morning). So I think the end is in sight! Woo!

The gorgeous weather hasn't been hurting either! Beautiful days spent outdoors with the family. Who can be unhappy about that despite some amounts of discomfort??

Sometimes I look like I'm 4 or 5 months pregnant. I can't tell if I'm showing or if a food baby is accumulating on top of real baby. That is more likely. Either way I'm already rubber banding my jeans and sporting my maternity jeans. Who am I kidding, I wear those when I'm NOT preggo! Who can deny themselves such comfort? Especially, say, on Thanksgiving, when I'll surely need the extra breathe room.

Anyway I usually suck at blogging but want to document these pregnancy days again and I can't find a pregnancy journal I like! I'm picky. Maybe indecisive is a better word. Either way, this is easier. If you know me, you may be surprised that I have chosen the internet over paper journals. I think being a mom has shown me how to use my time more wisely maybe... typing is a lot faster than writing. Plus, now I can keep friends and familia near and far updated on baby going-ons!

Lyla will be 19 months tomorrow. I want to cry when I see the '19.' I can remember when we measured her age in weeks!! Soon months will pass without consequence. Yikes!
